The Week We Were Elders

Image
Hello!  Sorry I didn't write last week, I was busy packing because I got TRANSFERED to the North Phoenix/Deer Valley area!! My new companion is Sister Vumiliya from Congo! Shes so cool and is tired of people asking her what food she eats in Africa haha 😂 She is so cute and funny. She has been out just a couple months so she's still learning some stuff and its fun helping her out :) She speaks 7 languages and English is one shes only really been using the past 2 months! Shes doing so well, you'd never guess she has only been speaking English since the MTC. Also stay tuned because she asked me to teach her to sing and shes gonna sing in Swahili!! Katy and Lexi's baptism was last week before the transfer! It was so amazing. The spirit and love was tangible as Trey baptized his wife and step-daughter :) Sis Mathews and I sang "Amazing Grace (my chains are gone)" as a surprise at the baptism and it was just a really cool experience and Katy took it as ...

It rained quite a bit this week!  We have our last lesson with Katy and Lexi tonight, and my mission president is coming to oyr lesson! Their baptism is this saturday - as well as the trunk or treat! We are so excited for them. They have come such a long way. They are one of the biggest miracles Ive witnessed on my mission 😊 We carved pumpkins today as a zone!  We have MLC and stake coordination and Katy and Lexi's baptismal interviews tomorrow.. gonna be a busy week!   Sister Mathews and I sang "how great thou art" at church yesterday, and we will be singing a different song at Katy and Lexi's baptism! We also have been practicing with the stake choir - which is soooo nice to sing difficult music with a good choir again. Wow.  Busy busy.. well we have transfers next week, so pday will be Tuesday! If I learned anything this week, its that God truly is mindful of us, His children!  ❤ --  Sister Garrick District pic with cut up ti...

Conference week!

What a week! 2 hour church starting in January is exciting and will help us to be more accountable, grow more spiritually, and develop a greater understanding of doctrines and the importance of families :) 12 new temples across the world were announced! The Lord challenged the women of the church, through his prophet, to have a 10 day social media fast, to read the whole Book of Mormon by the end of the year, to establish a pattern of regular temple attendance (and/or study temples) and to participate more fully in relief society. So good. Just the push of encouragement we need to help us reach our divine potential as daughters and children of God 😊 -we were in charge of doing temple landscaping one morning because the groundskeeper didn't come but we accidentally locked my bag in the shed behind a gate. We ended up with me scaling sister Mathews body to jump the gate and finding a ladder to jump back over all with only 3 small bruises. 😂 - our car almost exploded but al...

Who i love! - got a new bishop in daisy mountain ward which was kinda sad but exciting! - we made fun cards with Kathy this week :) - we saw a bunch of cows on the loose - we got a scorpion in our apartment, lost it in the closet, took everything out of the closet, taped the closet shut haha.. couldn't find it 2 days later when we untaped it so it might still be here ahhh Most important thing!! >> I invite you ALL to watch General Conference this weekend! PRAY about your questions/concerns/etc. Then LISTEN to the prophet of God on earth today, Russell M Nelson, and the apostles and other leaders! I'm soo excited to hear what Heavenly Father asks us to do, and what blessings He promises us. We are living in exciting times! Check out  lds.org  for times conference will be broadcast.  Love y'all! -- Sister Garrick Oh and we went ...
