Scary Halloween

This week went by so fast!
We had a pretty scary Halloween full of huge spider webs, giant daddy long legs, dead rats, creepy dolls coated in dust and dirt, and 150+ bags of garbage! We spent 5 hours cleaning out a hoarder's garage, house, and backyard! It was really sad to see, and the smell of cigarettes lingered on our clothes and hair, but it was great service! And, now the hoarder is meeting with the sister missionaries in his area! :)

The sun starts to go down around 5 here, and once its dark, people do NOT want to be bothered haha. That's hard for us, so, we have been "heart attacking" some people's doors recently which has been super fun and brightens people's days :)

We had lunch with Larry at Cracker Barrel on Wednesday! Lessons with Heather and Alex on Thursday. Heather is SO excited for her baptism in 2 weeks! She's been pinterest-ing ideas haha she's so funny! We taught her the Plan of Salvation and she loved it.
We went with Alex and the Haines' to the Mesa Visitors Center on Sunday! It's so nice to be there, to learn, and feel the spirit there. :) It's a very peaceful place.

On Sunday we also were blessed to be able to watch a regional conference broadcast at church! There was a LOT of good, inspired words but some things that stuck out to me, and I felt impressed to share are...

-- J. Devin Cornish spoke about Hurricane Harvey:
***It shouldn't take a hurricane for christian service to be given.***
- What can you do TODAY?
- The Light of Christ shines brightest in the darkest times!
- Miracles have not ceased!
- "Put behind weaknesses of the past, and move forward... roll up your sleeves and get to work!"

-- Elder D. Todd Christofferson spoke about our current prophet:
-"How does one honor and sustain a prophet who is not currently speaking? Act and give heed to what he has said in the past, especially the recent past. In fact I think its a gift to pause and look back."
- We are not judged on the amount of talents, but on how we use the talents we DO have.
- "Be diligent where we are and with what we have."

In life, unlike school, we have the TEST 1st and the LESSON 2nd. I testify that this is how the Lord works. After the trial of our faith, comes the blessings. You cannot gain a testimony without a test! Sacrifice, diligence, Christlike service and love, and the desire to follow Christ, brings about joy, peace, love, comfort, understanding, added faith, and blessings.

I love you all so much and pray for you!
