Back to the Ghetto for a day
Hey!
So this week we had 2 exchanges, a zone conference, and a fireside!
The first exchange, a french speaking sister, Sœur Barnett came to my area! We posted a singing video together because she loves to sing too!
The next exchange, I went back to the Ghetto and was confused all day because no one spoke English..haha. I was with Hermana Bastian. We had an unplanned lunch and someone gave us some homemade papusas... So. Good. And then for dinner we had homemade sopes! Super good too.
Earlier this week we got a text from President Smith, in the mission presidency, asking if I would take care of the music for the fireside (devotional) on Sunday 😅 he said they needed a chorister, pianist, and a special musical number.. ha.. SO, I conducted, Sister Mathews played piano, and we scrambled to put together a musical number before Sunday, in one of the busiest weeks of my mission haha... and, it went great! I remembered, one time in Prescott, President Collins wanted me to sing a specific song that was special to him, but he asked me like an hour before he was speaking at a youth conference, and I didn't know the song, so I didn't end up doing it. So, the day after we got asked to sing, I asked Sister Collins if she could find that song and send me the sheet music, but to keep it a secret from President. We got the music, found an accompanist, and threw it together quick, and it ended up going super well! President didn't even know we were singing, but when he saw me in the chapel, he shook my hand and said "you aren't singing tonight, are you?" I told him I was, and he had the biggest smile haha and said "That just made tonight SO many times better!" Hah he loved it! It was "In the Hollow of Thy Hand". It was sung at his farewell and he really appreciated it :) The fireside was mission-wide (21 stakes) and held at the chapel by the temple. I saw Sister Summer Hall, Sister McKenna Hall, and Sister Perez! It was so great to see them, AND members and converts from past areas! :) The next fireside will have Greg Olsen as the guest speaker! I love that our mission is doing this :)
So yeah, its been a busy week, we encountered the biggest tarantula ever, and i held a full grown miniature chicken named El Capitan at a dinner, killed many bugs in our apartment, and many more fun little adventures. Haha its a crazy life we live out here in Daisy Mountain!
Our devices freaked out and deleted a bunch of apps so we don't have facebook, messenger, area book, or like anything right now haha but Salt Lake us aware and working on it.. pray that it will be fixed soon or we wont know a lot of plans and addresses that we had saved on there!😅
Love you all!
