Week of Miracles, Service, and Transfers! #LightTheWorld!!
Something I learned this week is that if you want increased peace in your life, SERVE!
December 1st was the Worldwide Day of service! Our day was packed full of miracles. It started out with us going to help out with the Savior of the World musical..and, Jordan Rushing, the son of Katy Ordonez (my last baptism) had his baptism at the same time in the same building! Hugeee tender mercy that I was then able to attend Jordan's special day, and see lots of the people I love from the North Valley ward :)
Miracle!! The guy who delivered the food for the cast party after the musical is interested in meeting with missionaries and being baptized!!! #matthefooddeliveryguy
Then we went to a service where we helped a family hang up Christmas lights on their house. They tried to pay us and were shocked we wouldn't take it. The grandmother only speaks Spanish and was confused why we weren't taking the money so i said "somos las misioneras de la iglesia de Jesucristo de los santos de los ultimos dias" and they were like "Ahhh she speaks spanish!!" And i was like "no no thats all I know.. and me duele la cara de ser tan guapa" haha they liked that...
Also after our service, we offered service to everyone we biked past. Most said no, but a guy let us help him unload a truck of wood into the yard!! It was great because no one lets us do service when we are in dresses, so we were making the most of biking home in service clothes. He offered us money too but i told him "letting us help you is payment enough" haha
There was a service opportunity we had Monday night, but it canceled and we saw a miracle because of it (along with 2 other companionships that were planning on going)!! God is SO good and knows the needs of His children. We got out of an appointment and saw that the service was cancelled, so we stayed in the area we were in, stopped at a few houses, then saw a mom and son across the street. We felt prompted to go talk to them even though it seemed like she was frustrated with her dogs and yelling at her son. They were so nice and receptive and said they had seen us biking around before (#bikelifeisthebestlife) and she wanted to talk with us! She said she's catholic but that if she changed, she would be "Mormon". Haha She invited us to walk the dogs with her and her eight year old son (#itsgr8tobe8) and we had great conversation, invited them to Savior of the World musical, and the spirit was so strong. We said a prayer with them on the side of the street before we headed home. #bikingmiracles #whatsamormon?
Also, Elder Rasband came to our stake! It was a good conference and cool to see answers to prayers of non members being taught as they sat by us there listening to an apostle of the Lord! :) I posted this on my facebook already but I thought I'd share it on here too:
Elder Rasband testified powerfully that "no other success can overcompensate for failures in the home" (David O. McKay) BUT that "failure in the home is when and ONLY when you give up." I'm not a parent, but I'm grateful to hear this counsel and reassuring words before I even experience that chapter of my life. Im grateful for my parents and grandparents who make parenting seem easy, because of the way they love and serve me so selflessly.
If you feel you are failing, know that you are not! No one who is longing and striving to be better is ever failing. Especially in the home! Do your best. Thats all the Lord requires of you. As you do your best, the Lord adds His power to your efforts❤
Elder Holland comes this Saturday so stay tuned!! 😁
Sorry this is so long!
Also I'm getting transferred! I will be in the Deer Valley YSA and Pinnacle Vista wards!! I'll finish training Sister Wells! :) I'm going to be living in my first area..super crazy! It all comes full circle. Well love y'all let me know if theres any thing you want to hear more about! && Thank you for your prayers! 😊
